Aspartofitsenhancement,therewillbenewincentivestoencouragetheadoptionofenginesusinglow-carbonfuelslikeliquefiednaturalgas(LNG)aswellastheuseofLNGbunkerduringportstay. "Ourfuturestatemustbeonethatispoweredbygreenerfuels,newshippingcapabilities,newmaritimetalent,interoperabledigitalplatformsandplayersbeyondthetraditionalrealmofmaritime,"MsQuahsaidinaspeechoutliningfutureshippingtrendsandtheMPA'splansmovingforward,whichincludegoinggreenandgoingdigital. ShewasspeakingattheSingaporeRegistryofShipsForum2019heldatGrandCopthorneWaterfrontHotel. MsQuahnotedthattheMPAhasbeenenhancingdigitalconnectivitywithcustomers,byprogressivelydigitalisingmanyoftheservicesofferedbyitsOneStopDocumentCentre(OSDC)andtheSingaporeRegistryofShipsthroughenhancementsontheMarinetplatform. Bythestartof2020,allservicesprovidedbytheOSDCwillbefullydigitalandonMarinet,asthephysicalcountergraduallygetsphasedoutfromDec1.ThecounterwillbeopenforhalfadaybeforeitisfullyclosedfromJan1,2020. Inaddition,digitalPORT@SG,adigitalplatformthatallowsseamlessdataexchangebetweenpublicandprivatesectorsontheglobalmaritimetransportchainannouncedbyDeputyPrimeMinisterHengSweeKeatlastweek,willbelinkedtoallMarinete-servicesstartingDecember,withMarinetusersprogressivelymigratedovertotheplatform. Amidstthedisruptioninthesector,MsQuahsaidSingapore'smaritimeworkforcemustremainrelevantandtakeonnewskills.
