AfteralumpectomyisperformedforDCIS,localradiationtherapyistypicallyperformedtohelpeliminatemicroscopic-leveldisease.Axillarysentinellymphnodebiopsy,asamethodofscreeningformetastaticdiseaseinotherwisenon-invasiveDCIS,isfallingoutoffavorbecausetherisksofprocedureoutweighanyeffectonoutcomes.[7]ForDCIS,chemotherapyisnotrecommended,buttamoxifenmayberecommendedfortumorswhichcontainanabundanceofestrogenreceptors.[8] Forpatientswithinvasiveductalcarcinomawhohavelumpectomies,lymphnodebiopsyandradiationtherapyareusuallyrecommended.Adjuvantchemotherapyisoftenrecommended,butitmaynotberecommendedifthetumorissmallandtherearenolymphnodemetastases.Forlargertumors,neoadjuvantchemotherapymayberecommended.
