TheCISSP(CertifiedInformationSystemsSecurityProfessional)ishighlysoughtafterandwidelyregardedasthegoldstandardITsecuritycertification.It’sprovidedby(ISC)²,arenownednonprofitorganizationthatspecializesininformationsecurityeducation.   CISSPholdershelpsetupanorganization’ssecurityblueprint,controlriskmanagementandmaketoughsecuritydecisions.Thisbenchmarkcertificationisaimedsquarelyatseniorsecurityprofessionalsandshouldonlybeattemptedbyveteranswithatleastfiveyears’experience.   Withatoughexamanddauntingprerequisites,achievingtheCISSPisalargeundertaking.Addingittoyourrésumé,however,willqualifyyouforsomeofthebestrolesintheindustry.TheCISSPisacommonrequirementforCISOpositions That’snottosayit’snotworthattaining—itis.TheCISSPtestsyourabilitytoperformaseniorITsecurityrole,ensuringyouunderstandtheconceptsandprinciplesthatguideanygoodsecurityplan.   EC-CouncilCEH   AchievingEC-Council’sCertifiedEthicalHacker(CEH)provesyouknowhowtousethesametoolsandtechniquesthatmaliciousblackhathackersusetoconductcatastrophiccyberattacks.   You’llbetrained,however,touseyourknowledgeforgood—themoreyouknowabouthackingtoolsandtechniques,thebetteryou’llbeabletodefendagainstthem.Achievethisintermediate-levelcertificationandyou’lllearnhowtocracksystemsandnetworksusinghackingtools,howtofindfaults,backdoorsandvulnerabilitieswhichcanthenbefixed. TheGCIH(GIACCertifiedIncidentHandler)focusesontheskillsneededtodetect,respondtoandresolveITsecurityincidents.It’sanin-depthcertification,coveringawidenumberofincidenthandlingtopics—includinghowcybercriminalsinfiltratenetworks,crackpasswordsandconductsessionhijacking.   AimedatprofessionalswhowanttoworkasIncidentHandlers,thecertificationisalsosuitedtosystemadministratorsandsecurityarchitectswhowouldbenefitfromabetterknowledgeofcybersecurity.   ThiscertificationsharessimilaritieswithEC-Council’sCEH,asbothinvolvelearningthetoolsandtechniquesusedbyhackerstocompromiseorganisations.TheCEH,however,isfocusedonoffensivesecurity—i.e.attacktools—whereastheGCIHcertificationfocusesmoreondefenceandincidentresponse.Ifyou’regoalistobecomeanIncidentHandler,theGCIHisbyfarthemorerelevantcertification. Toachievethisprizedcertification,you’llneedcomprehensiveknowledgeofthedesign,implementationandmanagementofsecurityprograms.You’llalsoneedin-depthknowledgeofthe8CISSPdomains,coveringahugerangeofsecuritytopics,fromnetworksecuritytoriskmanagement.   TheCISSPisgearedtowardhigh-levelsecurityprofessionalsandcandidatesfortheexammustpossessaminimumoffiveyearspaid,full-timeworkexperienceintwooftheeightdomainsoftheCISSPCommonBodyofKnowledge(CBK).Qualifiedprofessionalscanthentaketheexam,consistingof250questionsoversixhours.
